- סְפִיקוּלָאI, סְפִיקוּלָה, (סְפִקוּלָ׳), m. (spiculum) dart, javelin; נתן ס׳ (to put up the javelin, to call for judgment; to sentence (v. Sm. Ant. a. Luebker Reallex. s. v. Hasta), opp. דִּימוֹס II. Y.Ber.IX, 14b וכשהוא נותן ס׳ הכלוכ׳ but when he orders judgment, all murmur against him; Lev. R. s. 24, beg. ספיקלא.Gen. R. s. 79 וכד … ס׳וכ׳ and when he heard the divine voice say ‘judgment, the bird was caught; Koh. R. to X, 8 ספיקלא (correct the passage as in Gen. R. l. c.); a. e.Ex. R. s. 15 prepare the swords (v. אִסְפָּתִי), שאם ימרדו ישמעו אִסְפִּיקוּלָא that, in case they rebel, they may hear the call for judgment (‘spicula). Midr. Till. to Ps. 92 ישב עליו בדין לספק לו, read: ישב עליו לס׳ (בדין, a gloss) he sat down to pronounce judgment upon him.
